Betsy and Bertie Bumble had worked together in the Honeywood University Research Laboratory for a long time. Bertie had enjoyed training Betsy. She was great fun to work with, she was a quick learner, and she came up with exciting ideas! One day a worried Queen Beeatrice tells them both that she has just received some awful news that a terrible disease called Beezles is on its way to Honeywood very soon.
All the creatures in Honeywood will need to work together to try and help the bees and with Professor Baillie’s help, make testing kits, medicine, and a vaccine… but will they save the bees in time?

Betsy is a creative, kind bee who loves helping her creature friends in Honeywood. One day, she sees her good friend Big G the grasshopper, looking unhappy as he can’t jump as high as the young grasshoppers. Betsy sets about to help solve the problem and make Big G happy again. Will she be able to come up with an invention to help him?

Betsy and Blue are identical twin sisters who live in the hive with their bee parents and bee siblings. They love going on adventures together but when Blue starts to get bigger and bigger by eating a bit too much honey, she finds it difficult to fly up into the air. Betsy helps her to get fit and eat healthily so they can continue to buzz around together. They create a daily exercise challenge called Bumble Buzz for all the creatures in Honeywood to make living a healthy lifestyle fun. The twins also discover an innovative way to sell their Honeywood Gold Honey, which makes them feel very enterprising indeed.

The mini beasts across Honeywood are left worn out after an awful disease makes the bees sick. Many sick bees have been taken to Nightingale Hospital to be looked after by Lady Scarlett and the ladybird nurses. The little bees are so ill that their families are not allowed to come in to see them. To keep them happy, the ladybird nurses read them loving letters and cards written by their families, which are delivered every morning by the caterpillars. The caterpillar family struggle to carry the heavy sacks, so Betsy, Bobby, Blue and Bella use their enterprising skills to design something innovative to make the caterpillars’ lives easier, but will it work?

In the story ‘Bella Bumble’s Waggle Dance’ Bella managed to find a safe, clean water supply for the bees which helped them get better. The bees want to celebrate Bella for her resilience and bravery, so they decide to have a party. Ask pupils to design and make a party hat to help them celebrate.

Tell the children that we are going to look at how businesses advertise. Introduce logos and branding to the children and encourage them to design their own logos for their smoothies.
